Kingdom Planning

Today is our Vision Sunday for TGS in 2015. It is the Sunday that kicks off the year. We will look at Why we Exist (the answer is God). What our mission is (Matthew 28:18-20 – Make Disciples of Jesus) and How We Seek to Achieve It (planned events; personal relationships; courage to live out and share our faith with non-believers).

Friends, as we look at this year ahead there are many things that compete for our time, attention, energy and commitment. I know with just having Amelia start prep there are already new commitments and time requirements added to Lesley and myself, and this is on top of our present commitments.  However, can I encourage you, that when you look at planning your year, you remember our Saviour Jesus in that. Jesus is our wonderful and merciful king and he has commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20).

At TGS we seek to live out this commandment .Today you should receive a church calendar for 2015. While not all of these events are outreach to make new disciples, they are all about growing disciples for Jesus (for yourself personally or for others – we want people to know and love Jesus more). Please make Jesus and his mission a commitment of yours this year. Please be a part of TGS as we seek to grow together, grow closer to God through his Son, and grow God’s kingdom. May your plans for this year be focussed and shaped by Jesus, His salvation and His mission. Our calendar (which is an expression of Jesus’ mission) works best when we as a church commit to it. I am excited to be used by God this year, I hope you are too.
