If someone asked you to summarise the whole Bible in a dozen verses, what verses would you choose? Don’t know? Here is one 12-verse summary —

  1. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).
  2. “So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27).
  3. “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel” (Gen. 3:15).
  4. “I will surely bless you, & I will surely multiply your seed as the stars of heaven & as the sand that is on the seashore. & your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies, & in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed” (Gen. 22:17)
  5. “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods but me” (Exodus 20:2–3).
  6. “When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever” (2 Samuel 7:12–13).
  7. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, & they shall be my people” (Jeremiah 31:33).
  8. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, & we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
  9. “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
  10. “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here. He has risen!“ (Luke 24:5–6).
