Why Chloe’s Place?

If you didn’t already know, Chloe’s Place is an organisation that we partner with here in Cairns. If you don’t know much about them, here is a link to their website http://chloesplace.com.au/ Chloe’s Place or Cairns Pregnancy Help, as it is also known, exists to encourage and support women and couples in Cairns facing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy. In 2015, a local female doctor noticed that amongst her patients, and among her friends and her family, unplanned pregnancies happen. And although they can be really exciting, often they can be totally overwhelming. For example, one of the first clients to visit Chloe’s Place was a married woman with 3 children and expecting her 4th. When she came in, a volunteer at Chloe’s Place congratulated her on her pregnancy. The woman was shocked. She had only had her mother, husband and work colleagues tell her to abort the pregnancy and that this was a bad thing. Wow! These were the first supportive words she had heard. So, what do they do and why do we partner with them? Chloe’s Place offers the opportunity to talk in a confidential, non-judgemental and caring space, as well as offer practical help: Pregnancy tests, pregnancy options, counselling, pregnancy and parenting mentors, advocacy and linking in with other community services. In addition to that, it also offers for women on our mentoring program: Baby clothes and baby equipment, maternity clothes, transport to medical appointments, and cooked meals when baby arrives. We partner with Chloe’s Place because we believe that every life has intrinsic value from the moment of conception all the way through life, from womb to tomb. Before anyone does anything, before anyone contributes anything, before anyone has anything to offer, before anyone is impressive, that person has intrinsic value bestowed by God simply because they’re a person, because they’re made in the image of God. And because we believe that life starts at conception, it is therefore, a matter of life and death. We also believe it is in the best interest of both the baby and the mother to carry the baby to full term. Friends, what we have found is that most women who come to Chloe’s Place want to keep their baby but don’t know how, or feel that there is no support. Chloe’s Place really does bless these women and families for the name of Jesus. Please consider supporting them in prayer or financially. They are having a High Tea to raise support and awareness on the 30 March at Trinity Baptist Church at 3pm.
